Two great photoshoot opportunities land in my lap

Well this is really cool. I was visiting my friend Rinus some time ago and were talking about setting up the new Digital Engineer website. Now he’s no graphic designer but he is a creative guy and knows people all over the world. I admired a portrait on his wall. ‘Too bad Sipke, the photographer, lives and works in London’, Rinus said… A shame because I really wanted a good portrait for my new website. But who was I kidding? I had already spend all the money I made selling ad-space for my Dutch website, MacMojo… What to do? It’s not like you can find good photographers on every street corner…
I did some searching in my own network and found Henri, a good photographer I have worked with on and off for more than seven years. We talked through my idea and arranged a date for the shoot to take place. Henri was willing to work for free. I promised to write about a great photo shoot he did some time ago. (Keep your eyes on the website, ‘cause we’ll be explaining just what he did to create it some time in the near future).
And wouldn’t you know it? The very next day Rinus phones! ‘Sipke from London’ was in the country. Rinus had already told him about my ideas and Sipke had agreed to do the shoot for free! There wasn’t a whole lot of time though. We had to complete the shoot in one hour and Sipke was only available for one specific afternoon. It turned out to be two days after my shoot with Henri. And you guessed it: I’ll be writing about Spike from London as well!
So now I have two series of pictures! One was made by Henri for the ‘About’ page and Sipke made the photo you see after the ‘Read more’. I didn’t brief Spike at all, the weather was terrible and he was forced to do the shoot inside the building. But, like on most occasions, to be truly creative you need to be truly restricted. Enough talk for now. Here’s the picture we chose to let me introduce myself to you.
This is one of the pictures Sipke felt was good enough to let me use for the site. There were more, but we really likes this one with the concrete wall and the white shirt on the dark background and dark jeans in front of the window. The emergency-exit sign is a nice touch. So, there you have it. I’ve been publishing the Dutch site MacMojo for quite a number of years and never really told any of you guys who I was. I met some of you at my event, the Digital Engineer Assembly, but for all the other readers: Well, this is me.
I saved this JPEG with an ICC-profile so if you really want to see correct colors, please use Safari.
