Two Dutch winners at the ‘Oscars of the Infographics’ in Spain 2009

Dutch designer agency Schwandt Infographics won the 2nd (or Silver) prize with their interactive project ‘Ecoson’ at the infographicscongres Malofiej in Spain. Quite impressive! The first prize went to the New York Times with their interactive animation about ‘The Ebb and Flow of Movies’.
You can view the Dutch interactive Infographic right here. (If you can’t read Dutch please read these short instructions first: To activate the animation, click on either the red or the blue truck when the site has finished loading. Once inside the animation hover over over the silhouettes or click on them. Inside the close-up after this click, just ‘mouse over’ the black and white dots for more information). The animations show us an environmentally clean way to generate power out of organic waist.
Dutch newspaper ‘Volkskrant‘ also took home the 2nd (or Sliver) prize, but for the category “Features” with their infographic about the Dutch casualties of several different wars. It shows us how, in time, each war caused more deaths and asks the reader ‘who will we remember tomorrow?’
The New York Times website and newspaper received several #1 (or Gold) prices including ‘Best graphic of the year’. Check out ‘The Ebb and Flow of Movies’. More information about these and other fine examples of infographics can be found at this excellent blog about Infographics.
